Turkey hosts conference to mark 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan`s state independence

A conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the restoration of Azerbaijan`s state independence was held at Kafkas University of Kars, Turkey. A delegation of the International Centre for Diaspora (IDC) laid flowers at a monument to the founder of the Republic of Turkey Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and held a meeting with Kars Governor Ahmet Kara before the conference.

Addressing the conference Azerbaijani consular general in Kars Aykhan Suleymanov provided information on Azerbaijan`s development paths after the restoration of independence, unexampled services of national leader Heydar Aliyev, increasing international authority of the country in the result of successful internal and foreign policy led by Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev. He also thanked Turkey for the support to Azerbaijan in Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

The conference featured reports on Azerbaijan`s state independence and Turkey-Azerbaijan relations by head of the International Centre for Diaspora (IDC) of Azerbaijan Ismayil Agayev, director of Center for Central Asia And the Caucasus Studies of Kafkas University Hacali Necefoglu and Dr. Selçuk Ural.

Azerbaijani and Turkish artists` exhibition and concert by art masters were organized after the conference.
