PACE issues statement condemning murder of 13-year old Azerbaijani by Armenians

06 October 2011 [16:16] - TODAY.AZ
MPs from various countries represented in PACE signed a statement strongly condemning the murder of a 13-year-old Azerbaijani citizen by Armenians, which was prepared by a member of the Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE Ganira Pashayeva. The document signed by MPs has today been adopted as a written statement of PACE.

The statement promulgated by the organization's chairman at the Assembly's meeting was distributed as the organization's official document.

"Armenian Armed Forces killed another child after tragically murdering a 9-year-old Azerbaijani boy Fariz Badalov by a sniper from positions in the occupied Azerbaijani territories on March 8. The 13-year-old Azerbaijani citizen Aygun Shahmaliyeva became a victim of Armenia's non-humanist policy in the Alibayli village of Azerbaijan's Tovuz region, bordering on Armenia on July, 2011. The Armenian side dropped a toy loaded with an explosive device into the river flowing through the village. Aygun brought the toy home and as a result of the explosion an innocent girl tragically died. The murder of children in such way is a tragedy of humanity," the document reads.

The statement also reads that every child should live in peace and get an education. However, Aygun Shahmaliyeva was deprived of these rights as a result of Armenian aggression. Some international organizations, including UNICEF, also condemned this incident.

"Given the fact that the murder of children is a great tragedy, PACE strongly condemns the tragic murder of the 13-year-old Azerbaijani citizen Aygun Shahmaliyeva by Armenia and expresses its deep sorrow in this incident," the statement says.
