“Unfortunately, in Azerbaijan, the voters’ expectations from the members of the parliament exceed their mandates”, said first Vice-Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ziyafat Asgarov at the opening ceremony of training courses on voting right for the district election commissions’ (DEC) chairmen.
He reminded that the MP’s right and duties are shown in the Constitution. Asgarov said that the main work of the MPs concerned the legislation, as well as to work with the international organizations and enumerated the other duties: “But we also have the thought which remained from the Soviet nostalgia that for example, my house was flooded, my house was destroyed, the MP don’t look after it and etc. These issues don’t concern the MPs. Quite so, it doesn’t mean that the MP must stay aside from the voters. Of course, the MP must learn the problems of voters and region and raise it in the Parliament. But they load MPs with personal issues. I believe that this problem will be solved”.
