Azerbaijan to hold elections in dissolved municipalities

Azerbaijan will hold elections for dissolved municipalities in 2011, the Head of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov said at the committee meeting.

He said that following the 2010 municipal elections some problems occurred. Nine positions were dissolved and elections will be held for the newly vacant municipal offices.

"This year, the main task before us is to hold municipal elections. So we will try to resolve the issue in this allotted time", Panahov said. The last municipal elections were held in Azerbaijan in late 2009.
