“An official visit of Turkey`s Prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Azerbaijan after his Party`s victory in the parliamentary elections is a vivid evidence of close relations between the two fraternal states. This visit has an historical significance,” Turkish ambassador in Baku Hulusi Kilic said at the press-conference dedicated to the results of Turkish Prime minister`s visit to the country.

Ambassador underlined that issues of widening of bilateral and regional cooperation, development of relations in political, economic, energy and other spheres were discussed during the visit. The diplomat said main attention had been paid to resolution of Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict. “Turkey always supports Azerbaijan in its efforts to solve this problem. We closed our borders with Armenia because of occupation of Azerbaijani lands. The injustice dominates in the region. Such situation has to be removed,” said the diplomat.

Mr. Kilic said the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Turkey stood at 2.5 billion dollars last year, which is forecasted to reach US $ 3 billion.

Fighting terrorism was also discussed during the prime minister`s visit.

“Both Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish people welcomed a standpoint of President Ilham Aliyev on PKK terrorist organization,” ambassador added.
