Armenian community of the United States started to campaign for increasing of US financial aid to Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh and ending aid to Azerbaijan.
Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) called on the members of the Armenian community to send e-mails to the Congressmen, APA reports. On Wednesday, August 3, the House Appropriations Committee will consider the FY2012 U.S. Foreign Aid Bill. ANCA demands to allocate at least $60 million to Armenia and $10 million to Nagorno Karabakh, to maintain Section 907 of the FREEDOM Support Act, and include a provision to end aid to Azerbaijan.
Recently, the Senate Foreign Aid panel approved the bill for allocation of $40 million to Armenia, but Nagorno Karabakh was not included in the list of US foreign aid this time.
Senators also supported proposal for the military aid to Azerbaijan. This event was assessed by the Armenian mass media as a failure of Armenian lobby policy in the United States.
