25 July 2011 [15:53] - TODAY.AZ
US ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza met with the Udin community in Nij village of Gabala region and visited the restored Udin church, the embassy’s press service said.

The ambassador had a dinner with the community members at the church and familiarized with the Udin community.

Matthew Bryza noted the importance of the projects like the restoration of Udin church with the view of preserving the rich cultural heritage of the South Caucasus region. “Preservation of cultural and religious monuments has great importance that prevails over political, cultural and religious differences. Preservation of your church, culture and language is a splendid example for diversity and tolerance. I have recently visited Armenian church in Baku and I believe that a day will come when the people will be able to pray in that church like you do here. I am glad to see the respect of the local officials and citizens for sacred places,” he said.

The embassy said Matthew Bryza paid a three-day visit to Gabala and Goychay regions. He met with the participants of the youth leadership camp organized by the US Peace Corps, heads of executive powers and visited the pomegranate processing facility in Goychay.
