CMO chairman: Ensuring peace in Caucasus is of vital importance

Ensuring peace in the Caucasus is of vital importance for everyone, the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO) Chairman Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade believes.

"The current meeting of the Supreme Religious Council of the Caucasus Peoples in Baku is an indicator of our achievements in ensuring spiritual dialogue and cooperation in the Caucasus," Pashazade said at a meeting on Monday.

He said the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is attentive to reinforcing mutual relations between state and religion, as well as the Caucasus Peoples’ welfare.

"We, representatives of religion, believe that the only path that leads to the prosperity of all peoples in the Caucasus is international, interreligious mutual understanding, cooperation, as well as the preservation of peaceful coexistence," Pashazade said.

A report meeting of the Supreme Religious Council of the Caucasus Peoples has today kicked off in Baku.

The event participants have today visited the Alley of Honor to commemorate National Leader Heydar Aliyev and Alley of Martyrs.

The plenipotentiaries of the Caucasus Muslim Board in Georgia and Dagestan attend the meeting with all the muftis of the Caucasus.

The Supreme Religious Council of the Caucasus Peoples was established in 1992.
The Chairman of the Caucasus Muslim Office Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade chairs the Council.
