CIS natural and man-made emergencies interstate council meets in Minsk

The Commonwealth natural and man-made emergencies interstate council met in Minsk, Belarus. Experts of the CIS countries have coordinated the draft treaty establishing a reserve fund of the CIS member states to provide assistance to the states affected by natural and man-made emergencies, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee said.

A session of a group of experts that gathered in Minsk to revise and harmonize the treaty completed yesterday. The Draft was highly assessed and soon will be submitted to the Council of the CIS Heads of State.

The reserve fund will be used to provide urgent assistance to any CIS country hit by natural or man-made calamity in case it is unable to cope with the consequences of the disaster itself.

The Council members have made reports on the works done in 2009-2010s. The Fund of Council will include material, financial resources, and services provided by the stakeholders of the treaty. The fund will be open to donations of other states, international organizations, juridical entities and individuals.

The CIS Council has rewarded Azerbaijan for the contribution it made in the development of cooperation to liquidate the sequences of natural and man-made emergencies in the Commonwealth.
