Moscow hosts meeting of Azerbaijani-Russian inter-governmental commission

On Friday, Moscow hosted the 13th meeting of the Azerbaijani-Russian inter-governmental commission.

The Russian delegation was headed by Deputy Prime Minister, presidential envoy in the North Caucasus Federal District Alexander Khloponin, Azerbaijani - Deputy Prime Minister Yaqub Eyyubov.

The meeting covered a wide range of issues, status and main directions of economic and trade cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia, determining their perspectives. Also at the commission meeting, the sides discussed the implementation of decisions taken at the 12th meeting, cooperation in transport, communications and information technology, prevention and emergency response.

One of the main issues during the meeting of inter-governmental commission was to develop the regional border cooperation of the Russian Federation entities with Azerbaijan.

"Much has been done since the last meeting, but the potential relationship is immeasurably more, and we have something to strive for," Alexander Khloponin said to a press conference after the meeting.

Eyyubov also said that Azerbaijan has always considered Russia a priority to strengthen relations. "Russia is our main trade partner. Our countries have no problems that we could not solve," said Deputy Prime Minister.

The meeting also discussed the draft inter-governmental agreement on cooperation in tourism, migration, youth policy, as well as search and rescue operations in the Caspian Sea, the establishment of a permanent exhibition of Azerbaijan in Russia Exhibition Centre, on measures to ensure the parallel operation of power systems of Azerbaijan and Russia.
