Azerbaijani MP: Reforms required in law enforcement bodies

It is necessary to conduct reforms in the law enforcement bodies, Azerbaijani MP Siyavush Novruzov said at a parliamentary meeting while discussing additions and changes to the laws on "Operative-search activity" and "Prosecutor's Office."

He complained about the large number of investigating authorities in the country. He proposed to establish a single investigative body.

"Specialists must work in the area of investigation," he said. "The basis of the investigation is the primary investigation. The primary materials are the basis of the investigation to disclose certain crimes. It can be difficult to restore them. From this point of view, a single investigative body can be taken as a pilot project. If this project justifies itself in the future, this issue must be resolved in other areas."

The additions and changes to the laws will be prepared in this regard, he said.
