"Azerbaijani parliamentary elections running in calm atmosphere"

07 November 2010 [14:31] - TODAY.AZ
Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are running in calm atmosphere, the CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov told media today.

"The voting is held in accordance with the election legislation. There was insignificant misunderstanding, which was immediately removed," he said.

"Some observers did not bring their documents, but the CEC made concessions and allowed them to observe the elections," Panahov stressed.

At the same time, some facts were fixed when observers interfered in the voting process during the elections. However, this misunderstanding was removed immediately, according to Panahov.

Azerbaijan launched the parliamentary elections at 08:00 local time. The Azerbaijani CEC reported that 690 candidates are running for the parliamentary elections. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies. Previous parliamentary elections were held in November 2005.
