German MP to observe parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan

Germany - South Caucasus Parliamentary Friendship Group member, MP Manfred Grund will arrive in Azerbaijan on Nov. 5 to observe the upcoming parliamentary elections in the framework of the OSCE ODIHR Observation Mission, the German Embassy in Azerbaijan reported.

The parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are scheduled for Nov. 7. Previous elections were held in November 2005. The elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies.

Grund enjoys great respect in Azerbaijan mainly thanks to his invaluable assistance during Bundestag's adoption of the resolution on the conflicts in South Caucasus on May 20, 2009.

In this resolution, the Bundestag demanded the German government to actively contribute to Armenia's implementation of the resolutions by the UN and OSCE and Council of Europe on the conflict resolution.
