01 November 2010 [19:07] - TODAY.AZ
The election monitoring coalition "Parliament-2010" will conduct monitoring in 80 constituencies in Azerbaijani parliamentary elections to be held on November 7, the head of the analytical group of the coalition, Ibrahim Aliyev, said during a training organized for observers in Sumgait.

"We have about 3,400 observers in the constituencies. Today, we will meet with the observers in Sumgait's constituencies. We will try to better prepare observers for the elections," Aliyev said.

The parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are scheduled for November 7, 2010. Previous parliamentary elections were held in November 2005. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies.

Aliyev said that all the observers, participating in the monitoring, are independent. They do not represent any party. "Their main mission is to give objective information about the elections. Our observers represent the interests of Azerbaijani people," he said.

The observers were provided with information about the role, place and form of monitoring.

Speaking at the event, Aydin Karimov, representative of the coalition, said that the holding of democratic elections in the country will enhance the role and influence of Azerbaijan at the international arena and strengthen its position in international relations. He said that the election monitoring coalition "Parliament-2010" intends to demonstrate independent and impartial results in the observation mission.
