Azerbaijan to set up new organization to investigate offenses in military units

A draft law on amendments to the "Disciplinary Regulations of Armed Forces of the Azerbaijani Republic ", "The Charter of Garrison and Guard Services of the Armed Forces of the Azerbaijani Republic", "The Charter of the Internal Service of the Armed Forces of the Azerbaijani Republic" were discussed at the meeting of the Security and Defense Committee of the Azerbaijani Parliament.

The committee chairman Ziyafet Askerov said that the changes are related to the investigation of offenses at military units and establishment of a new organization to investigate these facts.

Alasgarov said that according to the current law, the offenses are investigated by a person appointed by the commander of the military unit.

According to the proposed changes, a new organization will be established under the legal department of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry to investigate the violations admitted in military units. It will investigate crimes in the military units. The bill was recommended for discussion at the plenary session of the Azerbaijani Parliament.
