Japanese government implements ecological project in Shaki city

The government of Japan has completed a project on improvement of the situation in the rivers of Shaki region of Azerbaijan within Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects.

Ambassador of Japan to Azerbaijan Masamitsu Oki, chief of Shaki executive power Murad Jabbarli and the public participated in the ceremony.

The aim of the project is to purify 6250 sq.m of Deyirmanarkh and Gurdzhanchay rivers from wastes and reconstruct the 580 m dam. The total sum of the project is 95.760 000 dollars.

Mr. Jabbarli said this project has an important significance for social and economic development of the city. Japanese Ambassador said implementation of these projects is a contribution the Embassy makes in Azerbaijan`s environment protection.

Mr. Oki said Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects has been implementing in Azerbaijan since 2000. The project covers environment protection, social welfare, health, education. Up to now, 129 projects worth 9.390 mln dollars have been implemented in Azerbaijan.
