On June 10, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov met European Parliament's delegation led by vice-chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Fiorello Provera.

Provera described Azerbaijan as a “modern, secular and rapidly developing country”.
“This development potential creates broad prospects for Azerbaijan and provides additional opportunities for the country to strength its relations with European counterparts.”
Mammadyarov praised the fact that the European Parliament unanimously supported Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity in a recent report on the need for an EU strategy for the South Caucasus. The Minister noted the international community must be more firm in urging Armenia to stop its occupation policy and remove the status quo in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Provera said violation of borders of sovereign countries in the 21st century as “inadmissible”.
The sides also exchanged views on energy and trade cooperation.
