Gambian FM visited mass burial in Guba

A delegation headed by Gambian Foreign Minister, International Cooperation and Gambians abroad Ousman Jammeh visited the mass burial of the genocide victims in Guba.

Members of the delegation, who visited the mass burial of the genocide victims in Guba, were informed about acts of vandalism committed by Armenians in 1918 in Guba, Guba region Executive Power told Trend today. Signs of torture on the bones of the genocide victims, which were Guba civilians, were clearly demonstrated to the members of the delegation.

Gambian minister said that he will address in support of Azerbaijan's right voice in the international arena.

In March 1918, Stepan Shaumyan's Dashnak-Bolshevik government seized power and launched a genocide against the Azerbaijani people. Under the decree signed by national leader Heydar Aliyev in 1998, March 31 became the Day of Azerbaijani Genocide.

According to information from the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences' History Institute, 700,000 Azerbaijanis were killed by Armenians in the course of several days from March 24, 1918. The Armenians also destroyed 75 Shamakhi, 122 Guba and 115 Zangazur villages.

The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has already prepared a draft of the memorial complex commemorating the genocide victims.

The guests visited industrial enterprises in Guba, also Red Settlement populated by the Highland Jewish people in Guba. They prayed at the Ardabil Mosque in Guba.

Guba is located in 170 kilometers from Baku.
