Azerbaijani Defense Ministry confirms Armenian family crosses Azerbaijani border

The Armenian family of five is currently in Azerbaijan. The incident is under investigation, ministry spokesman Teymur Abdullayev told said.

The Armenian Defense Ministry announced a breach of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in the area of Yeraskh-Nakhchivan Jan. 11.

Armenian citizen Yeghishe Gevorgyan and his wife and three children crossed the border by car illegally and traveled to Nakhchivan Jan.10 at 7:00 p.m., disregarding the instructions of the Armenian border guards.

The border guards did not open fire because of the children, the ministry reported.
