Turkish energy minister: Turkey will remain faithful to Nabucco

08 August 2009 [10:33] - TODAY.AZ
Turkey can become a partner of the Russian South Stream gas pipeline project, but it will remain faithful to EU-initiated Nabucco project, Turkey’s energy minister Taner Yildiz said.
“No matter what project we have signed including South Stream, our commitment to Nabucco will not diminish, because we keep our promises,” Yıldız said.

The minister added Turkey could become a partner of the Russian project, but first it will get acquainted with its feasibility study.

Yildiz said nothing prevents the two projects to be developed in parallel.

“Nabucco and South Stream can delay but do not interfere with each other,” Reuters reported quoting the minister as saying.
