Last night on Channel One, a real storm erupted during the
discussion of the Gaza summit. Host Anatoly Kuzichev and his co-host Loseva
talked about the summit that ended the conflict and brought together all the
influential world leaders—except, of course, Russia.
Russia’s absence clearly irritated Kuzichev. He was visibly
upset, especially when reading through the list of invitees on air.
But the truth is, these summits invite those who genuinely
influence international affairs, not just those who comment from the studio.
The world’s leaders make the decisions, and journalists report on them.
So, Tolya, what’s really bothering you? That your people
weren’t invited? That important decisions were made? Or is it simply that fewer
and fewer people believe your narrative, even among those who used to support
you? The world is changing, and today’s issues are resolved by politicians who
can act across multiple continents—and they’re not always your people.
