Azerbaijan's ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbul oghlu stressed a positive trend in the development of bilateral relations.
"A positive trend not only in the political but also the economic sphere has recently been observed between Russia and Azerbaijan", stated the diplomat. Last year the trade turnover between our countries grew 40% to USD 267 mln".

"The diplomatic offices of our country promote strengthening of bilateral ties, while the presidents take an active stance in development and strengthening of bilateral cooperation", noted the ambassador.

"Today the countries are bound with friendly and constructive relations: affiliates of the Moscow State University are being opened in Baku, there are Russian language high schools and schools, Azerbaijan also has the biggest Russian speaking community in the South Caucasus", said Bulbul oghlu at the Moscow conference "Azerbaijani-Russian relations as a model of pragmatic cooperation in the post-Soviet area".

The forum is dated to the 90th anniversary of diplomatic service of Azerbaijan which was established in the times of the Azerbaijan People's Republic. The diplomatic service has existed only for 22 months, yet through this period it took an active part in the resolution of external political issues in the South Caucasus. After the USSR collapse the Azerbaijani people did not wish to interrupt the history of the diplomatic service and after the decree of Azerbaijani President was signed, the day of diplomatic employee is now marked every year.
