Turkish President Abdullah Gul spoke about the importance of Azerbaijan in detail at his meeting with US President Barack Obama.

Gul called Azerbaijan as a fraternal country to Turkey and said Azerbaijan played important role in the region from the view of US energy strategy and stability in the region. He said rapid development in the Turkish-Armenian relations was difficult without satisfactory progress in Karabakh issue. Obama understood the importance of Azerbaijan and said the issue was very complicated, the Turkish diplomatic sources said.
