
On March 12 the work group of the movement "For Karabakh and Republic" held a meeting with head of the Baku office of the US National Democracy Institute on international ties Jeoffey Lie and programme director Aida Suyunduyeva, according to the press service for the party.
As is reported, the meeting participants were Hasret Rustamov, Gulaga Aslanly, Billur Humbatov, Rafael Taghizade and Avez Temirkhan.
The meeting participants discussed the sociopolitical situation in the country before conduction of a referendum due to amendments to the Constitution. Moreover, they exchanged views about principles of observation of political powers over the referendum.
The initiator of the creation of the civil movement "For Karabakh and Republic" was the Azadlyg bloc consisting of three parties, Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, Liberal Party of Azerbaijan, Civil Development Party as well as the public forum for Azerbaijan. The Democratic party of Azerbaijan, Umid and Musavat parties as well as a number of NGOs also joined the initiative.
The referendum on amendments to the Constitution is planned to be held on March 18.
