Sergey Lavrov: "Russia maintains military and technical cooperation with most countries, not allowing any destabilizing supplies to any region"

12 March 2009 [14:19] - TODAY.AZ
The document, containing information about the alleged supply of arms to Armenia by Russia in 2008 is falsified, said Russian FM Sergey Lavrov during a joint briefing with Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mamedyarov by results of a bilateral meeting held between them Thursday.
"Russia maintains military and technical cooperation with most countries not violating any international commitments, its own legislation and not allowing any destabilizing supplies in any region", said the Russian FM.

He said on these very principles Moscow is cooperating both with Azerbaijan and Armenia and no one makes a secret out of it.

"As for the rush around a certain document, which appealed in the Azerbaijani and Russian mass medias, this document, as proven repeatedly, is false. It does not meet any criteria of such documents and contains absolutely groundless information and fixes such grammar mistakes that cause doubt about where this document was written", noted Lavrov.

Information about delivery of Russian military hardware to Armenia in 2008 was also discussed today at the meeting of the Azerbaijani and Russian FMs.

"We were informed that in 2008 Russia did not supply any military hardware to Armenia. In turn, we noted that we will continue the deep investigation of this issue", said Mamedyarov.
