"The new resolution 1643 of PACE should be viewed from two positions", said chairman of the Liberal Party Hovannes Hovannisian, commenting on the new resolution on Armenia.

"If republicans assess this resolution as a victory, I can state otherwise. It would be a victory if a man wins over his enemy or a rival. Then it would be possible to speak about victory", noted the leader of Armenian liberals adding that he considers this assessment of the resolution incorrect.
Commenting on the PACE January session, Hovannisian noted that the resolution of the Karabakh conflict has become a priority issue during discussions once again and therefore PACE did not deprive Armenia of the right to vote.
He considers that the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, attacked importance to this task, "could improve the situation".
"When the co-chairs paid their latest visit here, it was clear that if during the then-upcoming session Armenia was deprived of a vote, Serzh Sargsyan would not agree to meet with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, which means that the parity could be violated", noted the political figure.
Moreover, he said when in 2001 Armenia's membership in PACE was discussed, the assembly noted that it cannot occur without Azerbaijan's membership, as there is a common Karabakh problem.
The leader of the Liberal party said Armenia did not lose the right of vote only owing to the Karabakh conflict, not "the democratic victory or conduction of reforms".
