9th session of EU-Azerbaijan cooperation held in Brussels

As is reported, the session was attended by Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mamedyarov.

During the session it was noted that Azerbaijan is a country, participating in the provision of the energy security of Europe.

The sides discussed the implementation of the actions plan in the framework of the European neighborhood policy, initiative of Eastern Partership, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, cooperation in transport and energy spheres.

At the same time, the sides stressed importance of development of relations between EU and Azerbaijan on the basis of respect towards the territorial integrity and state sovereignty of the countries.

The sides welcomed the Eastern partnership initiative. The sides noted that this program will encourage the development of further relations and closing of the European Union with its eastern partners.

Moreover, a protocol to an agreement between EU and Azerbaijan on partnership and cooperation was signed due to the EU accession of Bulgaria and Romania.
