Reporters without borders call on Azerbaijani government to review the decision about plans to shutdown foreign radio stations, reports Day.Az with reference to Azadlyg radio station.
The coordinator of the organization for European and CIS affairs Elza Vidal noted that by closing the foreign radio stations the Azerbaijani government will show to the world that its priority is to restrict freedom of speech.

"Is it true? Does the country have so many sources, providing independent and objective information", said Vidal.

The organization representative noted that the Azadlyg, BBC and Voice of America supply Azerbaijani people with high quality and independent information.

"Azadlyg radio station is the last radio station, where opposition representatives speak. If the country's government stop transmission of these radio stations, we will have to do nothing but to blame such an action", said Vidal.

Earlier chairman of the National Television and Radio Council Nushirevan Meherremli notably stated the intention to stop transmission of foreign radio stations in January of 2009.
