BBC and Azadlyg radio stations hope to continue functioning in Azerbaijan

BBC has made a statement regarding plans to stop functioning of foreign radio stations.
Day.Az reports with reference to BBC Azerbaijan that the statement says the radio station is transmitted at 103.3 FM, short waves and Internet.

"BBC has recently hold talks with the Azerbaijani government, during which they sides reached an agreement about installation of three more FM-transmitters and signed an agreement. BBC have over 15 years of good relations with partners in Azerbaijan. In period of growing demand for international news, we are ready to ensure independent, reliable and objective news, prepared by BBC Azerbaijan, to Azerbaijani listeners via FM-frequency".

The corporation of Free Europe and Liberty radio stations also made a statement on this issue.

Day.Az reports with reference to the Azadlyg radio that according to the department of the corporation for public relations, they are currently considering this issue.

"We are thinking over our response. We believe the Azadlyg radio plays an important role in providing Azerbaijani people with reliable and professional information, not subjected to censorship and we are eager to continue this activity", said the department.
