Prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States in various economic spheres will be discussed at the second session of the US-Azerbaijani joint commission on economic cooperation to be held in Washington, said US ambassador to Azerbaijan Anne Derse, according to Novosti-Azerbaijan.
She said the governmental delegation, led by Finance Minister Abid Sharifov, will leave for the United States.
"The date of the session has not been defined yet, as presidential elections will be held in October in Azerbaijan and in early November in the United States. After these elections we will have time to hold the next session of the intergovernmental commission by the end of the year. I think we will be able to hold the said session in November", said the diplomat.
It should be noted that the conduction of the second session was scheduled for spring of this year but due to technical reasons it was put off for a later period.
There is a plan to sign a number of agreements on bilateral cooperation between the United States and Azerbaijan by results of the session.
At the session the governmental commission will be headed by assistant US Secretary of State Daniel Sullivan.
It should be noted that the first session of the US-Azerbaijani joint commission on economic cooperation was held in Baku on February 7 of 2007. The Baku session was attended by a delegation, led by Daniel Sullivan.
A joint protocol and 8 documents on cooperation in different spheres were signed by results of the session.
