Samed Seidov: "The elections and pre-election campaign should be conducted in the most democratic conditions"

"The elections and pre-election campaign should be held in the most democratic conditions", he said Tuesday at a conference "Media and elections: democratic commitments of the press", arranged by the Council of Europe in cooperation with the Yeni Nesil journalists' association.

According to Novosti-Azerbaijan, he said Azerbaijan fully executes all the commitments taken before CE, including the democratic development of the press.

Seidov also stressed the important role of press in democratic development.

Speaking at the event, special representative of the CE secretary general in Azerbaijan Veronika Kotek stressed importance of creating normal conditions for the activity of journalists and constant expansion of their capacities.

"Journalists have a right for limitless access to information and the right to use it. The journalists bear great responsibility for covering the elections", resumed she.
