Aghdam occupation by Armenian armed forces turns 15 on July 23.
Aghdam is an ancient region of Azerbaijan with an area of 1,154 square kilometers and a population of 153,000 people.

In the result of fight, lasting for 42 days, Armenian armed forces occupied 70% of the territory of the region.

During the war, Aghdam had 5,897 martyrs, 3,531 disabled, 1,871 children became orphans and 850 lonely.

According to Day.Az, 16 Aghdam natives were presented with Honored name of the National Hero of Azerbaijan for fights for territorial integrity of the country. Of them only one-Rovshan Akperov, is alive, while 15 became martyrs.

Today, over a half of Aghdam residents, driven off their native lands, settled in 64 cities and regions of Azerbaijan.

Despite the demands, fixed in the resolutions of UN Security Council No 822, 853 and 884 of the need to recognize territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and free the occupied lands of Azerbaijan without preconditions, Armenia still continues its occupation policy.
