Opposition leader Etibar Mamedov meets with French President

Leader of the Azerbaijan National Independence Party Etibar Mamedov is visiting France in the framework of participation at the session of the International Democratic Union, held in Paris, reports Day.Az with reference to the press service for the party.
The party notes that along with the main topic of the conference- "Right wing parties in the 19th century", the participants also discussed democratic processes, ongoing in the world, situation in human rights and paid attention to regional issues.

In the framework of the conference the leader of the party met with French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

The sides agreed that the parties, represented in the International Democratic Union, will expand ties and take all measures to strengthen the role of right wing parties.

At the conference Etibar Mamedov voiced confidence about strengthening of ties between France and Azerbaijan and informed about the general political situation in the country.

In turn, French President Nicolas Sarkozy said he believes that Azerbaijan will hold democratic and fair elections, as the future of the country depends on it.

It should be noted that the session involves 82 right wing parties from 63 countries of the world.

The National Independence Party of Azerbaijan joined the right union parties union in 1996. Party leader Etibar Mamedov has been deputy chairman of the Union since 2003.
