US Armenian National Committee: "Candidate Barak Obama has confirmed intention to recognize "genocide of Armenians" in case he is elected the US president"

According to a source from the US Armenian National Committee, Barak Obama sent a letter to the committee administration in which he shared opinion of the committee that the United States must recognize the events, which occurred in the Osman Empire between 1915 and 1923 as "genocide of Armenians".

"I will further speak for recognition of this fact by the White House", says the letter.

It should be noted that the letter was sent on June 16 in the threshold of debates in the committee on external ties of the US Senate on the ratification of Mari Iovanovich's candidacy as an ambassador to Armenia to be held on June 19.
