NATO week in Azerbaijan has kicked off in Baku.

Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilich addressing the event noted that 21st century creased new challenges. He added that one of the main military problems was terrorism.
Ambassador stressed the importance of adoption of security conception on the prevention of future dangers. Kilich stated that NATO would play a great role in boosting peace and security in comparison with other organizations. Diplomat noted that Turkey was interested in security of Caucasus and establishment of close relations between the region and Central Asia.
“Turkey knows that Azerbaijan’s main problem is Nagorno Karabakh conflict,” he said. Kilich stressed that Turkey supported solution to the conflict within Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and international legal norms.
Head of the Planning Section at NATO’s Operations Division, Diego Ruiz Palmer addressing the event noted that struggle against critical situations was one of the priorities of NATO. Mr. Ruiz estimated Azerbaijan as one of the important and active partner of NATO and stressed that Azerbaijan had great energy recourses.
"This is an important factor in terms of security. NATO is satisfied with Azerbaijan on security cooperation," he said.
NATO week in Azerbaijan will end on June 21.
