Rasul Quliyev's party: "Democratic elections require political unity"

"Amendments to the Electoral Code, adopted at the recent session of the Azerbaijani parliament, even toughened the process of candidates' participation in the presidential elections', said deputy chairman of Open Society Party Yaqub Abbasov.

He noted that holding democratic elections requires political unity.

"If not, normal elections are impossible even with a good Electoral Code.

These presidential elections should be more democratic considering the current state of the opposition", noted he.

Abbasov also added that the Open Society Party will decode about participation in the presidential elections in June.

"The decision to participate in the elections has not been taken yet. If some reforms for holding fair elections are conducted, we will join the elections. In case everything remains unchanged, we will reconsider the decision about participation in the presidential elections", said Abbasov.
