Azerbaijan's Supreme Court to consider cassation appeal of Azadlyg daily editor-in-chief

He said the journalist's case will be considered under his chairmanship. He said the claim will be considered after June 15.

Thus, the appeal states the need to annul decisions, passed by local courts, pay compensations to the journalist for violation of his rights.

It should be noted that on March 7 the Yasamal district court, chaired by judge Sudaba Mamedova, passed a verdict against editor-in-chief of Azadlyg opposition daily Qanimat Zahid and Baku resident Vusal Hasanov.

In line with the verdict, Qanimat Zahid was sentenced to four years in prison and Vusal Hasanov to 1.5 years. The Baku Appellate Court upheld the decision of the first court instance.
