Azerbaijani opposition leaders meet with PACE co-rapporteurs

The due information was provided by chairman of forum "For the sake of Azerbaijan" Eldar Namazov.

He said during the meeting the sides discussed sociopolitical situation in the country before the presidential elections.

"In particular, the sides considered the recent amendments and alterations to the Electoral Code of Azerbaijan, which are to be adopted at the next session of Milli Medjlis.

Almost all the parties have voiced a single position on this issue, according to which amendments and alterations to the Electoral Code reduce possibility of normal elections, as they have complicated the registration and propaganda of candidates. The PACE co-rapporteurs were presented documents, fixing the position of the Azerbaijani side on this issue.

Moreover, they also discussed the upcoming consideration of the situation in Azerbaijan in PACE. As is known, this issue has been included into the agenda of the PACE summer session", he added.

It should be noted that the meeting was also attended by Musavat party bashqan Isa Qambar, chairman of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party Ali Kerimli, leader of National Unity Movement Lala Shovket, head of the Party for Democratic Reforms Asim Mollazade and chairman of Umid Party Iqbal Aghazade.
