The due announcement was made by Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Nikolai Bordyuzha.
He said regarding possibility of Azerbaijan's accession to the organization, considering the conflict with Armenia, that it is important that the government and people of Azerbaijan take the due decision.
"As is known on September 24 of 1993 Azerbaijan signed a document on joining the treaty on collective security and had been the member-state of the Treaty, which laid foundation for the creation of our Organization, until April 21 of 1999. Thus, the precedent of Azerbaijan's and Armenia's being in the same military and political structure is obvious", he noted.
If Azerbaijan had decided to join CSTO, thus continuing the way of the second half of the 1990s, its policy and practical activity within the organization would have been directed for strengthening of collective security, said the secretary general of the organization.
"In turn, other countries, joining the organization, would strive to promote the resolution of existing problems and make it not less successfully than NATO has done in case of Greece and Turkey.
Bordyuzha said regarding actions of the organization in case of renewal of hostilities between Azerbaijan and Armenia, considering Armenia's membership in the organization, that the CSTO member-states closely watch the developments in the world and tend to make maximally realistic conclusions from the ended and continuing military conflicts.
"Our main conclusion is that any attempt of the forced resolution of conflict situations is doomed to failure with terrible outcomes", he said and added that the member-states of the organization speak for the peaceful resolution of conflicts, basing on negotiations and political means even in the most complicated situation.
