A regular session of the Center of Democratic Elections, functioning in Azerbaijan, was held today, according to Azadlyg party chairman Ahmed Oruj.
He said the session of the Center was held with participation of Micheal R.Drookman, program manager of the International Republicans Institute on the South Caucasus.

"The main discussions referred to cooperation with the said organizations in period of the presidential elections. The parties agreed that in period of the election campaign they will conduct joint trainings and monitoring", he noted.

Touching upon the issue of talks between the parties regarding nomination of a single candidate for the presidential elections, Orujev noted that discussions are still going on.

"The parties, represented in the Center, will possibly not nominate a single candidate, as each party intends to participate with its candidate in the elections. Some of the parties expect amendments to the Electoral Code of the country, which are to be introduced in Milli Medjlis in the near future. Others have already nominated their candidates. There is no unity in this issue", noted he.

It should be noted that the Center of Democratic Elections includes the National-Democratic Party of Azerbaijan, Classical Popular Front party of Azerbaijan, Great Creation Party, Single Popular Front Party, Green Party, Great Azerbaijan Party, Tekkamul party, Azadlyg party and Open Society Party.
