Representatives of Azadlyg opposition bloc, functioning in Azerbaijan, have held a regular session of the co-chairs of the association today.
According to co-chairman of the Party of Civil Development Ali Aliyev, the session participants discussed sociopolitical situation, established in the country before presidential elections.

The bloc voiced anxiety about the recent announcements of US President Georgia Bush on the World Day of Press.

"We consider it unnecessary to draw parallels between Azerbaijan and such countries as Iran, Cuba and China. This decision of the US President was too tough", he noted.

Aliyev also added that the bloc discussed a document, they received from the PACE co-rapporteurs.

"We have got familiar with them. It features the situation, established in the country before the presidential elections. The said document will be discussed in detailed during the PACE summer session".

It should be reminded that the bloc co-founders discussed the preparation of various opposition leaders for participation in the presidential elections,

The bloc members assessed the chances of the Azerbaijani opposition leaders at the upcoming presidential elections and came to a decision to define their position on the said issue following introduction of amendments to the Election Code of Azerbaijan and the draft law "On Freedom of Assembly".
