Azadlyg bloc asks journalists to stop hunger strike

03 April 2008 [10:43] - TODAY.AZ
Azadlyg bloc co-chairs visited journalists, who are on hunger strike, yesterday.
Ali Aliyev, chairman of Party of Citizens and Development, the leaders of the bloc asked the journalists to stop hunger strike as it is harmful for their health.

"We do not blame the protesting journalists as we consider that the said step is a desperate one. These people protest for the sake of freedom of speech and independence of press. However, we consider that they should fight in a different form, which would not be harmful for them.

The reaction of the world society on the said event seems to grow significantly. The representatives of the European Union and OSCE have already spoken on the said issue and Ago representatives will arrive in the country tomorrow, therefore, special attention is paid to the problem of freedom of press", he noted.
