US Senator Richard Ligar meets with Azerbaijani opposition leaders

Chairman of the Public Forum "For the sake of Azerbaijan" Eldar Namazov commented on the conducted talks.

"This is R.Lugar's fifth visit to Azerbaijan. Last time we met in August of 2005 before parliamentary elections. As he is well aware of the situation in our country, the talks mostly focused on the forthcoming presidential elections of 2008. The visitor might make assessment of the meeting and the talks before the mass media. I can only said that the exchange of view between the people who are  well informed about the situation and about each other was frank enough.

It should be noted that the meeting with the US senator was attended by the leader of the Musavat Party Isa Gambar, leader of the Liberal Party Lala Shovkat as well as the chairman of the Party of Popular Front of Azerbaijan Ali Kerimli.
