Latvian President to visit Azerbaijan

Latvia's President Vaira Vike-Freiberga is to attend the summit of head of states of GUAM to be held in Baku on June, Latvian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan Mikhails Popkovs told.

According to him, the Latvian President will to hold meetings with Azerbaijani officials and Georgian, Ukrainan and Moldovan Presidents within the visit.

The ambassador said Latvia does not intend to join GUAM, APA reports.

"Latvia intends to consider the status of observer in the projects of GUAM as other Baltic States. We do not think to become the member of GUAM yet," he said.
