President Aliyev, Iranian envoy discuss issues of mutual interest

President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan received Deputy Foreign Minister in Asia and Oceania Affairs and Iran's special envoy in Caspian Sea Affairs Mehdi Safari.

In the meeting, issues related to the Caspian Sea legal regime, bilateral ties, reciprocal visits by senior officials of both countries, joint construction of roads and dams, power plant projects and energy exchanges between Iran and Azerbaijan were discussed.

Regional and international issues including development in the Middle East, Iraq, Caucasus and the Central Asia were among issues discussed.

Moreover, the two sides also expressed satisfaction over sensible progress in the bilateral and five-sided negotiations on Caspian Sea Legal Regime and underlined the continuation of negotiation to reach final result.

President Aliyev by conveying his warm greetings to President Ahmadinejad expressed pleasure with expansion of ties and common stances of both countries regarding current issues.

He added Azerbaijan will make progress in all fields of its relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran. IRNA
