Gurban Mammadov: "I do not think the party leadership will vote for Rasul Guliyev's every stupid offer"

25 September 2006 [16:20] - TODAY.AZ
"Rasul Guliyev has always stood against me, since I was in prison. He struggled against me in secret way. But now it is obvious," Gurban Mammadov, member of the Supreme Assembly of Azerbaijan Democratic Party (ADP) told that while commenting on the incident between him and fugitive party leader Rasul Guliyev during the republic-wide meeting last Sunday.

According to Mammdov, Rasul Guliyev sent an appeal to the meeting participants, "But this appeal remains only in words not translated into action. So, it is pointless. We have many times heard such words from Rasul Guliyev. He aims to cause inactivity in the party, conflict in the leadership. I have warned about that. And Rasul made call to the meeting and made remarks to me in impolite way. And I responded to me. Then Rasul Guliyev said he does not want to hear Gurban Mammadov in the party again," Mammadov said.

Gurban Mammadov accused Rasul Guliyev of provoking conflict among the party members, "I am sure of that. I asked at the meeting to end these methods. I'll never let anyone offend me. Rasul Guliyev says as if I have no position, I back Ilham Aliyev today and other tomorrow. But he knows well that I was struggling against the authorities while he supported them."

As coming to whether or nor he will leave the party, Mammadov said he will meet any decision of the Supreme Assembly with pleasure, APA reports.

"But I do not think the party leadership, Supreme Assembly will vote for every stupid offer by Rasul Guliyev. Gurban Mammadov’s life and struggle is obvious. I will withdraw in order to be together with Rasul Guliyev in the same party. But for the time being I will try to remove his mistakes," he underlined.

ADP deputy leader Serdar Jalaloglurefused to comment on the incident in his statement to the APA. He said the republic-wide meeting was held in high level. He said Rasukl Guliyev explained the objective of the international public organization saying this will promote strengthening international support for the ADP.
