31 August 2006 [13:30] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan's southern border is violated more often, State Border Service head Elchin Guliyev told journalists.

Informing about the preventive measures against import of religious extremist literature to the country, Mr.Guliyev said, "The State Border Service has taken actions about this. So far nearly 100,000 religious literatures have been confiscated and presented to relevant bodies."

Commenting on carrying of such literature with transit goods, Guliyev said the seals of transit goods are not removed in Azerbaijani territory, "So, Azerbaijani relevant bodies are not responsible for that."

Guliyev also said the State Border Service carries out special operations jointly with other law enforcement bodies for the defense of borders, APA reports.

"Our joint operations with the law enforcement bodies in fighting illicit drug traffic, smuggling, illegal migration give positive results," the chief said.
