Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan, Azernews reports, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
The meeting focused on prospects for further development of bilateral and multilateral relations between the two countries, as well as regional cooperation issues.
During the discussion, satisfaction was expressed with high-level reciprocal visits between the leaders and foreign ministers of both countries, as well as political consultation mechanisms and regional cooperation platforms, all of which contribute to strengthening the bonds of friendship and brotherhood. The importance of further enhancing cooperation in political, economic, trade, high technology, defense, security, and other areas was emphasized.
The significance of mutual support within multilateral frameworks, including organizations such as the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, was noted. Pakistan’s election to the UN Security Council for 2025-2026 was also highlighted as an important development.
It was mentioned that the upcoming 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change would provide additional opportunities for meetings between the leaders, presenting a valuable platform for cooperation between the two countries.
Additionally, there was an exchange of views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
