Classic "anti-Midas": from Delon's France to Macron's France

Today, the whole world of cinema will be plunged into mourning. The great French theater and film actor, screenwriter, film director and producer Alain Delon said goodbye to this sinful world and went into eternity. He was 88 years old. According to Le Figaro, Delon died in the French capital Paris.

"Alain Delon died so many times on screen that it must have seemed like the last take. God, who is a bad screenwriter, said: "Cut! ". Delon did not get up," the article says.

It's a beautiful journalistic turn, but in reality, over the past 20 years, in almost every interview, Alain Delon told the press and the public that he was very tired of life, of a world in which some completely unbearable things were happening, and of himself - from diseases, loneliness, memories. He has repeatedly shared with the press that euthanasia is an ideal option for him to end his days.

At the end of January 2024, the court limited Alain Delon's legal capacity - since then, a third-party specialist has been dealing with medical issues, his large expenses and the topic of selling or transferring property. This is how the glory of the world passes.

"Everything is in the past, everything is over," Delon said from the stage of the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, when he received the honorary Palme d'Or in 2019.

By the way, this award found a hero too late, it became a farewell greeting to the only real movie star of the second half of the twentieth century, as Jean-Pierre Melville called Delon, who shot him in "Samurai", "Red Circle" and "Policeman". Yes, he was the idol of hundreds of millions of movie fans in various countries of the world. He left, leaving us all a great legacy in the form of his roles in the films "In the Bright Sun", "Rocco and his Brothers" (1960), "Leopard" (1963), as well as "Black Tulip".

Alain Delon was divinely, dazzlingly beautiful. And he was the personification of another, very beautiful, admired by everyone, including the brilliant actors of cinema, France. That France is no longer there. Today, Delon's physical demise has only once again established this indisputable fact. Earlier, in September 2021, France said goodbye to another film legend, Jean-Paul Belmondo, who died at the age of 88.

Screens broadcasting the funeral were then placed all over Paris. The ceremony itself took place in the courtyard of the Invalides House, where Napoleon is buried. The coffin, covered with the national flag, was carried by the guards. At this time, the orchestra was playing a well-recognized melody by composer Enio Morricone from the film "The Professional", to which the hero Belmondo tragically died in the tape.

By the way, this cult film demonstrated the real underside of French politics. Yes, the "Professional" appealed to the real events on the basis of which the novel was written, namely, the friendship of the French government during the time of President Giscard D'Estaing with the Central African dictator Bokassa.

Indeed, French presidents, for all their game of democrats, very often entered into the most shameful deals with African dictators. It is worth remembering, for example, the same Nicolas Sarkozy, whom the Gaddafi family accused of taking bribes for their presidential campaign. But still, they are all far from Emmanuel Macron, who has become the personification of a completely different France.

The one that no longer attracts, does not admire, does not arouse respect for itself. Macron's France has become a symbol of failures. The recent Summer Olympics in Paris is just one high-profile fiasco personally of the current President of France and the entire Fifth Republic. But there were a lot of other failures. So the British newspaper The Telegraph, in an article titled "France's pension system is collapsing," told about another Macron fiasco.

We have all seen the failure of the official Paris foreign policy on the example of the erroneous, absolutely immoral bet of Macron's France on the occupying country, that is, on Armenia. This was most clearly manifested during the 44-day war, when Monsieur Emmanuel slandered Azerbaijan, trying to stop the restoration of the territorial integrity of our country.

Nothing good came of it. And the shameful decision of the French Senate to recognize the "independence" of the Armenian project called "Artsakh" has remained a useless piece of paper. But that is exactly the price of all Macron's policies. It is erroneous, false, and built on the support of those who deserve condemnation, not those who have achieved the triumph of justice.

We saw all the squalor of this policy even after the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was restored as a result of a one-day anti-terrorist operation in the Karabakh economic region. Macron's France tried to condemn our country for this! She is now financing and arming Armenia, clearly inspiring it to a new war with our country.

Yes, the current French president has become a classic "anti-Midas". If the Phrygian king touched any thing, turning it into gold, then everything that Macro touches turns into a failure, a fiasco. And this is not only his personal tragedy. This is the tragedy of France, which has finally lost its luster and self-respect. And the death of the great Alain Delon was just another reminder that there was once another France.
