Samad Seyidov: “The matter of political prisoner does not concern the commitments of Azerbaijan any more”

New resolution on the political prisoners will not be in the resolution.

The reports made out by the reporters on Azerbaijan will be added into the previous resolutions and will be submitted to the discussion under the name “The fate of the political resolution”. Head of Azerbaijani delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe Samad Seyidov informed about it.

According to him, the problem of political prisoner has already been excluded from the commitments undertook by Azerbaijan: “This matter is closed”. Stating that only three of the prisoners mentioned as political prisoners in the resolution of the Council of Europe have not been released, S.Seyidov told that the matter concerning these persons are discussed at the moment: “The main thing that we are concerned about is related to the lists of “political prisoner” sent to the international organizations. That damages the image of Azerbaijan. We propose the NGOs compiling these “lists” to consult with us on this matter. We are ready to cooperate jointly with them on the issues that they are concerned about”. S.Seyidov said of those compiling the lists of political prisoner in different ways to have other ambitions: “Such “lists of political prisoner” are compiled in Europe to attract attention. As a matter of fact, most of these lists are about the problem of human rights”. Head of the delegation also said that no activity is observed in the work of the upper committee organized in the PACE for the Nagorno Karabakh problem.

Talking about the importance of this committee to work actively in the direction of the solution of the problem, S.Seyidov stated that the first meeting of the committee and discussions will be held in the June Session.
